Labor Day sales are coming. Here’s what to expect

You might still be reveling in mid-summer fun, but Labor Day is
on the horizon. However far away September 2 seems right now, some
brands are already rolling out pre-sales and information about
their plans for an end-of-summer blow out.

Labor Day is a prime time for shopping
mattresses
, appliances, and other home goods. It’s also in
the middle of the
back-to-school rush
, making it a perfect time to work on home
storage and organization.

To help you figure out which sales you want to shop and when,
we’ve rounded up what you need to know about the best promotions,
below. We’ll update this list frequently so check back often for
the latest offers.

When are the best Labor Day sales?

The actual holiday isn’t until Monday, September 2, but Labor
Day sales are already pouring in. Look for early sales on
mattresses, furniture, and appliances beginning mid-August, and
most official sales will start August 26 and run through September
3.

What types of items will be on sale?

Like
Amazon Prime Day
and the other big shopping holidays, you can
score all kinds of deals over Labor Day. But some items will have
bigger discounts than others. Laptops and TVs are always prime
Labor Day fodder, as are beds, pillows, and sheets. You can expect
especially good deals from online mattress brands.

The big home retailers

Amazon
: Pre-Labor Day sales
on Amazon are rolling in, like up to
40 percent off Dyson vacuums
like the Dyson V8 Animal Cordless
Stick Vacuum
($299, orig. $499)
.

Target:
Target hasn’t released their Labor
Day sales yet, but if it’s anything like last year’s promotion,
you can expect up to 30 percent off home items and extra savings on
rugs, bedding, and furniture.

Walmart
: Head over to the

Savings Center
to see Walmart’s pre-Labor Day sales. One of
the best deals so far is 23 percent off the KitchenAid Classic
Series Tilt-Head Stand Mixer ($199.99,
orig. $259.99
). Last Labor Day’s promotion offered up to 40
percent off TVs, tech, and home, with especially good deals on
outdoor furniture heading into fall.

Overstock
: Larger discounts
will be rolling in as the holiday approaches, but for now Overstock
is
offering
an extra 15 percent of rugs and an extra 10 percent
off select patio furniture, home decor, living room furniture,
mattresses, dining, and bath.

Bed, Bath & Beyond
: Labor
Day sales aren’t live yet, but right now you can shop up to

50 percent off of patio furniture
, take
20 percent on Anolon Cookware
(through 8/29), and
$20 off a SodaStream Fizzi Machine
(through 8/25).

Furniture and decor

Birch Lane
: You’ll find
loads of items for the living room, dining room, patio, and more on
sale this Labor Day. Score free shipping with the code LDAY and
head to the Birch Lane
outlet
for presales live now.

Pier 1:
Shop furniture and decor from 8/29
through 9/2 both in-store and online at Pier 1. To help students
outfitting their dorms and first apartments, anyone who flashes
their student ID will get an additional 15 percent off.

Interior
Define:
Customizable furniture brand Interior
Define’s Labor Day Sale starts August 23 and will offer 15
percent off everything in store and online—including their

new Jason Wu collection
. Sale runs through 9/23.

Tech and appliances

Home Depot:
Because Labor Day is such a big
deal for appliances, you can expect up to 40 percent off on Home
Depot staples like refrigerators, washers, dryers, grills, and
power tools.

Best Buy:
Best Buy watches Home Depot’s
deals closely and will likely follow suit with deep discounts on
appliances. Before Labor Day, head to their
Deal of the Day page
for steep, limited-time sales.

Mattresses

Allswell
: Shop 15 percent off
site wide on Allswell’s mattresses and bedding when you use the
code LD15. The code is valid from 8/25 through 9/9.

Mattress Firm:
Last year, Mattress Firm
discounted all of its mattresses, and while we don’t know details
yet, you can expect something similar this year. Look for King
mattresses selling for the price of a Queen, a Queen selling for
the price of a Twin, etc.

Outdoors

REI:
Adventure-oriented REI doesn’t
participate in Black Friday (and runs their #OptOutside campaign
instead), so Labor Day is one of the retailer’s biggest sales of
the year. The sale will start around 8/26 and run through 9/3. Look
for good deals on
camping essentials
like headlamps, sleeping bags, and Yeti
coolers.
